Walk It Out 2023

We had a fantastic time at “Walk It Out” 2023 Breast Cancer awareness walk. Thank you to Sandra Corothers of Lady and the Caddie for seeing fit to recommend Gertrude’s House to Our special guests, Mr. Dale Ellis and the National Basketball Retired Players Association of Atlanta.

The ball players came to douglasville in full force, showing how IMPORTANT the fight against breast cancer is to them. The ball players escorted the survivors while they did their survivor stroll as their years of being in the fight was announced. We had an amazing time celebrating those years. Thanks y’all 💓💞

There was a special presentation from Mayor Rochelle Robinson’s office.  A proclamation to the ball players was read and presented by Councilwoman, Dr. Lashun Burr-Danley and Councilman Sam Davis. Thank you Mayor Rochelle Robinson.

Other public officials joining us include Commissioner Tarenia Carthan, Honorable Judge Barbara Caldwell, Sherrif Tim Pounds ,and Chief Gary Sparks thank you all so much for taking the time out to join us every year. Your commitment has shows us citizens how important the fight against cancer is to you.

A special treat came from Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home Director Mr Greg Ussery and Mr. Devetrion Caldwell. Inviting the ladies to visited the Avon and SJ Accounting vendor tables to choose anything they wanted, on them. What a special threat.

Cathy Hawls from Willie Watkins funeral home was a true song bird she sang our national anthem. Cathy also served the participants water from what Gertrude’s House calls our Watering Hole. The Willie A.Watkins funeral home. Thank you!

All the way from Stockbridge Ga. Came our sister Group. Rhonda Williams founder and her Thriving and Surviving support group. The bond we have is so tight that we support as if we are one. What does that mean? We are in the fight TOGETHER.

We the executive board hope God is pleased with our efforts. Because most times we don’t visit the Doctor for fear. Gods word says fear nothing for I am with you.
